The Pitt County Arts Council at Emerge is a non-profit arts organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of life in Pitt County by promoting artists and arts organizations, educating through the arts, and making the arts accessible to the entire community.
Emerge offers weekly adult and children’s classes, workshops, and special events, as well as a full children’s summer program. Pitt County Arts Council at Emerge also provides community outreach programs, such as Art is Good Medicine Program.
The Art is Good Medicine program is an Arts in Healthcare program in partnership with local healthcare providers such as Vidant Health. Professional visual, literary, and performing artists work with adult and pediatric cancer patients and survivors. Through the arts, patients, survivors, and their caregivers can begin to cope with their challenge. In addition, the Pitt County Arts Council offers free-of-charge adult and family workshops to anyone affected by cancer including patients, survivors, family members, and caregivers.
