An unique addition to the Farmville business community will arrive on the scene this summer when one of the city’s biggest fans opens the doors to Verde Spa and Wellness.
Verde Spa owner Tracie Durrett says the two years she and her family have lived in Farmville have convinced her it’s the place to be, not just for her family, but another business as well.
She says “the Farmville Chamber of Commerce has been helping me with the plans to expand my business to Farmville.”
“I’ve never experienced anything like I’ve experienced since we moved in. We found a church there (Farmville United Methodist). Everyone greeted us with open arms. I’ve never felt such a sense of belonging as I do there,” she remarks.
Tracie, a self-described exercise and pilates enthusiast, says “I love riding my bike to the bank, to the library, to the hardware store. Brad (her husband) and I even ride it to dinner at Plank Road.”
Verde Spa, located in Winterville, offers massage, skin care, microderm abrasion, body wraps, body scrubs, preventative skin care and FDA-approved laser acupuncture for smoking cessation.
ILike Organic Products and Eminence Handmade Organic Skin Care of Hungary Products are also found at Verde, she adds.
Once the vibrant Goldsboro native starts talking about the effect her business has on people, it’s easy to see why she brings such a positive spark to Farmville.
“People automatically feel good when they come in (to Verde Spa),” she says, adding “I get to give some people a sense of well-being. They leave here feeling great.”
She admits “I’ve always been a spa junky. I love all things ‘spa.’”
What is it that makes Verde Spa unique?
“It’s our customized approach. We customize all of our services to the individual. It’s not just pick and choose from a menu.” Those individuals are mainly women from 30 to 60, with a few older gentlemen and teenagers sprinkled in.
Frequent travel is also on Tracie’s schedule as she serves as an educator for the Organic Skin Care line to dermatology offices, plastic surgeons and resort spas throughout the southeastern United States.
Tracie’s daughter, Catherine, is a freshman at South Central High School while Brad works at WITN television. They enjoy their two Yorkeys –-Manny and Piper.
Verde Spa and Wellness Center is open Tuesdays through Fridays from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and walk-ins are welcome. Verde Spa is located at 601 Old Tar Road. Tracie can be reached at 252-321-4757.
